While Peacocks Stay Hot, Old Man Winter Dunks Northeast Tonight with Bitter Cold + Snow Squalls, no Fowl or Foul!

Posted on March 27, 2022March 27, 2022

Good afternoon weather folks! Just a very blustery brief note here on the next 48 hours of winter that’s still holding on, coupled with some thought’s on what’s next. A strong cold front dropping a truly Arctic airmass tonight will bring snow showers, and some stronger snow squalls later this afternoon from Philly to Parsippany, from Poughkeepsie to Pittsfield, up to Plymouth (VT) to Plymouth (NH), over to Providence on up to Portland.

NAM Model Monday Morning Lows!
NAM Monday Morning Wind Chills !

Temps will drop into the 30s by sundown across the Northeast and plunge into the teens (single digit windchills!) by daybreak Monday morning! Temps will remain in the upper 20s to low 30s for highs during the day (that’s 15° to 20° below normal)! Streams of scattered snow showers will spray South NJ to Sugarloaf. Temps take one more dive into the teens overnight Monday before rising only into the upper 30s Tuesday.

NAM Forecasted Tuesday Morning Lows

The mercury moderates further later in the week into the upper 40s Wednesday, and spikes in the 60s to 70s across the tri-state region (50s to 60s further North). Another severe weather outbreak with tornados across the mid-south mid-week is on the table. Mixed precip possible across the interior Northeast Wednesday with the next chance for precip next weekend as we flip the calendar to April. And no April Fools but I’m keeping an eye between April 3-6th and the 8th-12th for the risk of out of winter storm! That’s it for now. Go St. Peter’s!

Mid Week Severe Storm!

Notes aside: For those who live under a rock or avoid social media entirely, take a look at this viral video taken from a storm chaser last week in TX. He captured a red pickup truck caught in the path of a tornado (not from the movie Twister)! The truck, what was driven by a 16 year old coming home from a job interview, was flipped over and spun 360° only to flop back onto its wheels and drive away!!

Omg… just going thru my video. This is a story about a red truck and a tornado…. I CANNOT believe they drove away like that. #txwx #tornado pic.twitter.com/8h0nD88xFv
