Good morning, atmospheric audience! Just a quick Monday morning update. While we all continue to enjoy this above-average warmth and dry pattern, daylight hours are shortening, the crickets are fading, and muted foliage is crunching beneath our feet. Lurking behind the scenes, changes are coming. Dry conditions, along with temperatures well above average, extend today and tomorrow. But a cold front moves through late Tuesday into Wednesday across the Northeast, resulting in showers to heavy downpours. Then, a much cooler airmass blankets the Northeast Thursday into early next week.

For the moment, New England looks like a classic cool and dry fall weekend. However, there’s an increasing threat of a developing storm off the Carolina coast Friday, then riding up into the Mid-Atlantic states this weekend.

The potential for strong winds, damaging surf, and significant flooding rainfall is on the table. While not a lock, this is looking like a serious storm.

I’ll be back shortly with all the details on track, timing, totals, and temps. Remember, most droughts usually end with floods, so be careful what you wish for. Also, remember, weather never sleeps!
