Temps Tumble from Tampa to Tuftonboro; Old Man Winter Lurking

Posted on November 9, 2025

Now that the World Series is over, New York football is over, it’s dark at 4:30pm and we flipped the calendar in November, I thought this would be a good time for a just a quick update (a deeper dive coming shortly) on the changes I see headed our way. Besides details on the brief yet severe shock temperature wise coming to the east coast, I will give a hint on what’s lingering later this month, along with a concerning update on my Japan mega quake call.

Tuesday Low Temperature Anomaly!

First, let’s address the upcoming very well telegraphed Arctic blast across the East Coast. Temps tumble from Tampa to Tuftonboro Tuesday. Falling Iguana alert will be trending in Florida!

Check out Tues Low Temps!

Fortunately, this will be a brief burst of Arctic air, but for the next 14 days or so temperatures in the northeast will be below normal, with this trend continuing, possibly into December.

7 Day Temp Anomaly (blue = cold)

Ahead of Tuesday’s tumble, 2 warm fronts move from the southwest to the northeast bringing rain later today and to start our work week tomorrow. For the tri-state, showers move in later this afternoon (enjoy the brief burst of temperatures spiking into the 60s), and arrive after sundown across the Boston area (near 60°F) up to the Seacoast (low 50s, 30s in the Whites).

For Monday morning, this front packs a bigger punch with heavy downpours for the morning commute, pushing east later in the morning across southern New England. Showers won’t last more than couple hours, but be sure to bring your winter gear for the ride home as temps drop from the mid 50s into the 30s by later in the day! Check out Tuesday’s highs below!

Tuesday High Temps!

Temperatures moderate later in the week but still well below normal, yet a fairly dry week ahead. While models are not consistent at this point, I am sniffing out a potential storm for the Northeast next Sunday into Monday. I’ll be back with more details.

QuakeReMarks

Given I want to get this post out shortly, I won’t go into all the details again on my thoughts for my Japan mega quake call. But no changes to my timeline which I mentioned back on my September 26th post, could be in the next 3 to 6 months and possibly by year end. The latest concern happened while everybody was sleeping last night, a major swarm of 20 quakes erupted just off the east coast of Japan, the largest being a magnitude 6.8 and a 6.4! 17 were 5.0 or larger. This comes on the back of the massive swarm up north in Kamchatka a couple months back. As mentioned what makes this a potential 500+ yr global event is the shear size of the plate rupture which could run from Alaska down the Philippines, Japan being the epicenter.   Further updates coming.

Thats it for now. I’ll be back shortly, and remember, weather (and I lately) never sleeps.
