Snow Squalls to Sixties to Saturday Shivers to Seventies in Next Seven Days !

Posted on March 23, 2026March 23, 2026

Good evening my atmospheric audience. Wanted to jump on to share a brief look at what’s next on the weather docket. As we flipped seasons Friday to astronomical spring, old man winter is not letting go just yet. Besides the dueling air masses tonight, we’ll look at the week ahead, the next snow threat (yes, not done yet), and when the warmth arrives (won’t last). Also, a quick look for the rest of month into early April as we Passover March with latzah warmth (no April Fools) to hopefully an Eggcellent Easter weekend. I’m eggshausted already but I’m sure you’re dyeing to read what’s next.

TRI-STATE REGION

While the southwest, and now the midsection of the country continues to fry, the Northeast and especially New England avoid the heat. A very sharp thermal gradient, or temperature contrast took place earlier today cross Pennsylvania. Temperatures rose in the 80s along I80 in PA to the upper 40s in upstate New York in New England. On that boundary thunderstorms and hail developed and eventually moved east across the Tri-State tonight, albeit less severe.

2pm Monday

Rain ends across the tri-state by around noon Monday but look for possible snow showers and squalls for the lower Hudson Valley, NNJ, Westchester into NYC/LI in the afternoon. It’ll be gusty with temps dropping into the 30s later Monday tonight on into Tuesday morning.

NH/ME

Later on Monday, winds rotate out of the north bringing snow showers later in the afternoon into the evening. Look for snow squalls Monday night ending by daybreak Tuesday across New Hampshire and down to eastern Mass and the Cape. Don’t be surprised if you wake up with a dusting to an inch or two in those areas Tuesday morning.

18z European Temp Forecast for Thursday

An uneventful rest of the week precip wise but temps climb into the low 50s Wednesday, upper 60s across the Tri-State Thursday (50s in New England), a tad cooler Friday before a strong cold front hits the Northeast on Friday. Dare I say the S word for NH/ME?

Our next Arctic blast will invade the northeast this upcoming weekend with temperatures in the upper teens to low 20s for lows and 30s for highs on Saturday!

European Ensemble Temps Sat 3/28

Great news though. For the last week of March into the first few days of April, bud bursting warmth finally arrives. 60s to widespread upper 70s are possible. Model madness for April 1st though. While latest Euro has mid to upper 70s, the 18z GFS has low 30s and snow in New England! That’s no April fools. The warmth could passover New England and stay south across the tri-state but we’ll see. That said, temps are trending much cooler and wetter than normal for rest of April.

That’s it for now. Lots of active weather coming in the weeks ahead. I’ll have all the important updates as well as my summer outlook and new details on my mega quake forecast. Lastly, look for a public address announcement later this week. I need some zzzz’s, as weather never sleeps!
