Good evening, atmospheric audience! Just wanted to jump on with a quick alert for overnight tonight and tomorrow for what most likely will be our last blast of a brief burst of, yes, snow in many areas, which I’ll describe below. As I hinted at in my Saturday post of possible festive flakes, we have an Alberta clipper moving in across New England, dropping temperatures cold enough for snow squalls and even heavy snow bursts. Somewhat similar to the summer when the sun heats up the atmosphere, creating instability ahead of a thunderstorm, the sun could pop out tomorrow, also creating an environment for enhanced, brief yet accumulating snow bands.

Stockbridge to Stratton to Seabrook to Sunday River!
This will be limited to north of I84 in Hudson Cty, W+C Mass (can’t rule out flakes reaching Boston and the Cape) into VT, NH, and Maine. Timing and totals subject to change, but here are my thoughts below.

Snow showers move into Hudson Valley between 3-5am with possible 2nd squall line between 11am and 1pm.

For the Seacoast, the first burst begins late morning between 9am and 12pm. After a few hours, snow tapers off before the next round of potentially heavier yet a brief burst (snow squall warning possible in spots) between 8pm and 11pm. This includes York up to Bowdoin. Squalls may make it down to the Cape after midnight Tuesday, ending before sunrise Wednesday.

2pm

Any accumulation will be limited to non-pave surfaces, which could see just a dusting, from 1 to 3 inches in spots. That said, if caught driving during a snow squall, conditions can deteriorate rapidly. I hope none of you have put away your winter gear yet, as heavy coats, hats, and gloves will definitely be needed across the northeast on Wednesday morning.

Out the door temps will be in the mid to upper 20s! Good news, though. A warming trend is on tap as temps rise to the mid 40s later Wednesday, 50s Thursday, and into the 60s on Friday.
That’s it for now again. Btw, heads up for my fellow Floridian followers on the East Coast. From Jupiter to Jacksonville, flooding downpours and strong wind gusts are headed your way tomorrow through Wednesday.

For those who can’t get enough of winter (me, yes, I know I’m nuts), enjoy. If caught in any of these snow bursts, it may cause travel disruptions so take care driving. I’ll be back later this week! Enjoy the game! And remember, weather never sleeps!
