Old Man Winter Heads to Extra Innings!

Posted on April 6, 2025April 7, 2025

Festive Flakes Monday AM Up North, Squalls Tuesday Across Northeast!

Good evening or morning if reading this Monday! Per my hint from my last post on March 28th about the 2nd week of April not being kind to lovers of warmth, old man winter refuses to hibernate just yet. A strong cold front will drop Arctic air early this week as we have some festive flakes moving into the northeast in the morning. This will follow with a 2nd colder airmass Tuesday with snow squalls. Neither will amount to much, a dusting to an inch or 2. Details in a moment.

Tuesday Morning Temps!

Look for wide spread 30s for lows Tuesday morning, rising only into the 40s during the day. Then the mercury drops further on Wednesday morning with low 20s across the entire Northeast (teens for windchills!) before temps moderate late week into weekend.

Wednesday Morning Wind Chills!

Temps will continue to ebb and flow so the warmth nor cold will hold just yet. So patience for permanent spring which isn’t in the cards until May. Ok, let’s briefly talk on timing track and totals on snow.

AM SNOW from NNJ to New Paltz up to Nashua to Newmarket up to Newfield, ME

Those on the track above from Hudson Valley to up to Northern CT into Mass and southern NH, expect to wake up Monday morning to festive flakes falling, tapering off late morning. A brief burst around the Seacoast in the afternoon is possible as well. Across the Tri-State it’s all rain Monday, so no snow for you.

Monday Festive Flakes

But for Tuesday, a very gusty and blustery day with a brutal colder shot to the Northeast! On top of that heads-up for possible snow squalls, some possible dangerous if caught driving in one. See below the forecasted HRRR model depicting sharp gradient squalls in the morning, as well as the afternoon. I’ll be posting on X Tuesday for any alerts.

Tuesday Snow Squalls

The next chance for what looks like moderate to heavy rainfall is Friday into Saturday. Details forthcoming. Go Houston as my daughter, whose name is “I don’t know much” in her bracket would beat her mom, dad, brother and his girlfriend who gets 2nd, and all his friends to win! Btw, this arctic blast had MLB move my Yanks at Detroit night series to all day games Monday thru Wednesday due to wind chills plunging into the 20s! That’s it for now. Time for some shuteye, cause weather never sleeps!
