Good evening atmospheric audience!! Happy Meteorological Spring! I’m currently on the road, but not off the radar (even if under the weather, which I’m not). I’m always on top of what’s going on as weather never sleeps! I wanted to jump on to do a brief recap on the blizzard, and what’s next. Buckle up this month folks. Maniacal month of March, model mayhem and March madness will drive everyone batty. How does single digits to minus 10-15°F wind chills, snow, flooding downpours, to snow/ice, then a massive spike into 60s to the 70s, ALL in the next 7 days sound?? After a few days to a week of glorious late spring like days (especially after this winter everyone is going to go nuts in a good way), hold your horses my fine Fahrenheit friends. It’s just a harsh tease as old man winter will be pounding his chest the second half of March into April. Much to discuss in detail on another post. But here’s a brief look given time constraints at the next 7 days. Btw, I posted a few blizzard pics below sent in from subscribers. Feel free to comment below on your totals or experience! If you have, email me any pics at [email protected] and I’ll try to add them on my next update.

Man, what a storm, yes?? Certainly lived up to its billing. Just 8.8″ at WeatherReMarks headquarters, now up to 75.7″ for the season!! That’s more the Anchorage, AK season total of 65.6″! See some of the top amounts and wind gusts above! I mentioned Boston, SE Mass and especially the Cape would get walloped. Didn’t expect Providence would a break a record of 37.9″, besting the 28.6″ from the Blizzard of 1978! My forecasted snow totals were mostly in range with of course a few outliers!

Had DC at 4-8″
- Catholic University had 3.6″
- American University 3.0″

Had Burlington to Basking Ridge up to Beekman: 8-14″
- Burlington 17″
- Basking Ridge 14.5″
- Beekman 11″

Had AC to Asbury Park to Armonk to Amagansett (including NYC): 12″-24″
- AC 14″
- Long Branch 11.5″
- Central Park 19.7″
- Montauk 28.1″
Had for southern NH from Nashua to Newmarket 8″ to 12″

- Hudson 8.6″
- Durham 8.8″
- Dover 9.5″
One More Polar Plunge!
Unless you live under a rock, clueless on weather or just don’t care, another brief pipe bursting airmass arrives tomorrow morning and Tuesday morning. Check out the morning lows and wind chills below!

Next up, we have our next system rolling into the Northeast Tuesday afternoon ending before rush hour Wednesday. Any plowable accumulations will be north of I84 and I90 into southern and Central NH. A general 3-5″ can be expected across the Granite State, beginning Tuesday afternoon, tapering off by sunrise Wed. Up to 1/2″ of heavy downpours across the Tri-State leading localized flooding from snow melt is expected.

After a brief tease of 40s and 50s Wednesday into Thursday, our next storm arrives Friday. Details on type track, and timing still need to be worked out. But can’t rule out plowable snows in NH to major flooding downpours to the south.
JUMP FOR JOY GET THE OUTDOOR FURNITURE DUSTED OFF!
Now for your spring like tease! Starting next weekend and lasting into the 2nd week to the Ides of March, feast your eyes on a few selected cities below (city in the upper left) for a taste of what’s to come (make those outdoor restaurant reservations now, lol). Don’t get too comfortable though. Details on possible wild weather for the 2nd half of the Month into Easter coming soon.

Brief QuakeReMarks Observation

I have no change to my Japan Mega Quake call. It’s still on the table and plenty of behind the scenes events leading to me to believe so. Besides significant tightening of specific fault lines and lack of significant quakes in normally active regions, we’ve had 5 very deep quakes in the past month (see above). Deep quakes below the surface, while avoiding damage, sometimes lead to in the short term dramatically larger (usually a magnitude larger), more shallow and therefore more impactful to land. Updates to follow.

One last item to bring up! This Tuesday morning, we have a total lunar eclipse “Blood Moon,” which happens when Earth passes directly between the Sun and the Moon. It’s the last one until 2028. But here’s the cool thing for us east coasters. A rare event called selenelion, is when the eclipse happens at sunrise! Head to the beach! A quick look at a cloud forecast, looks good for the Northeast and Florida. Blue = Clear.

That’s it for now. Buckle up folks, March madness is here!! Oh, don’t forget we lose an hour of sleep, but gain an hour of daylight next Saturday night! That said, remember weather never sleeps!!

Great picture of your dog.
You have too much snow for my liking.
