Good evening! Just wanted to jump on for a very brief update (I know that’s difficult for me) in between watching my Jets lose, with good news for change on tropical storm Imelda. White Mountains this weekend had foliage and fermentation, yet faint cell service so tough to do an update. Imelda is currently located 200mi E of Cape Canaveral, FL with 65mph winds, minimum pressure of 985mb moving N at 9mph.

Fortunately, as mentioned, speed mattered. Imelda’s slow forward motion allowed it not to link to the trough to pull it into the coast. So while Imelda will strengthen into a hurricane by tomorrow morning, its current north track will shift abruptly NE to E. It’ll grab Umberto’s hand and do the tropical tango into the proverbial Atlantic abyss. Landfall averted.

Hurricane Umberto is still a major CAT 4 hurricane with 140mph maximum sustained winds. Located 295mi SW of Bermuda, but fortunately is expected to pass west then N of the island, and eventually NE out to sea.

Heavy rainfall of 1-2″ up to 4″ in isolated spots along northeast Florida, and coastal sections of SC/NC. Plus expect rough surf along the entire eastern seaboard this week as well.

That’s it for now. A tranquil and dry weather pattern is locked in for the Northeast right through next week. Flannel and sweater weather later this week too. Droughts typically end with significant floods so I’ll be keeping an eye on that as well as the tropics, which is far from finished this Fall. Back to my lowly Jets…..actually nah, hitting the pillow because weather never sleeps!
