Unless you live under a rock most of you across the tri-state area of NJ, the 5 boroughs, lower Hudson Valley, up to western and central CT should know you’re in the crosshairs of excessive downpours tomorrow into Saturday morning. My brief bottom line is to take this seriously, as this has the potential to be a severe event.
A combined tropical low off coast along a stationary front with an on-shore flow will lead to a train of fire hose rain. This will create a very localized and significant flash flooding event of 3-6″ with locally up to 10″+ possible. Models have been highly inconsistent on exact locations of these bands and a back door forecast is indeed a challenge. But the entire tri-state area should be alert.
The bullseye looks like from Manasquan to Manahattan over to Massapequa, on up to Monroe to Mt. Kisco. If you live or plan to travel in those areas, plan for major delays and road closures due to major flash flooding in areas prone to even moderate rainfall. A great day to work from home if possible. Rain tapers off later Saturday for the tri-state and for moment, the heaviest rainfall looks to stay south of the Mass pike on North later Saturday. Will be back later tomorrow if there’s any changes to Southern New England.
