Good morning atmospheric audience. For those who celebrate, a very happy Easter and Happy Passover. This is a quick and brief post to share the roller coaster ride for this weekend’s weather. Not a dramatic difference between the tri-state area in New England, except for the earlier arrival of colder temperatures later today up north. In short, today’s dry and warm (1st 1/2 of day), and tomorrow is wet and not as warm. Let’s go over the timing for both regions for the weekend.

Tri-State Area
Saturday:
Great start to the weekend. But it will be fleeting. Be sure to enjoy the front half of the day as temperatures climb into the low to mid 70s (60s along the coast, Long Island and Hudson Valley) under mostly sunny skies. However, winds shift out of the east later in the afternoon into the early evening hours. It’ll be noticeably cooler mid afternoon from appx 3pm onward. Temps will drop in the low 50s by 3/4pm, and into the 40s by sundown (7:24pm in Central Park)!

Easter Sunday:
Winds shift from the east to out of the southwest driving up temperatures into the upper 60s, but limited to central and southern New Jersey. This is ahead of a cold front that brings downpours and isolated thunderstorms across the tri-state. The line moves from NW to SE starting late morning and ending late afternoon. See approximate time stamps below.

New England
Saturday:

Under partly sunny skies, temps begin in the low mid 50s. But if you’re heading out the door for the afternoon, be sure to bring a coat and even gloves. Winds shift out of the east rapidly dropping temperatures, especially along the seacoast by early to mid afternoon. Temps drop into the mid 40s midday, and into the upper 30s well before sundown!
Easter Sunday:

Not a great day, unfortunately. By daybreak, winds shift out of the southwest driving a warm, humid air mass into New England. Isolated showers are possible in the morning. While not a total, washout showers will become steadier in the afternoon with some breaks. Temps will be in the upper 40s to low 50s. Rain tapers off between 5-7pm on the arrival of a cold front Sunday night into Monday.
That’s it for today. I’ll be back shortly with the week ahead (cooler and dare I say festive flakes?), the rest of my April thoughts, a quake update, and details on a new WeeklyReMarks post. Time for a nap as our dog has decided to move his internal alarm clock back an hour! Remember, weather never sleeps!
